ANA Mileage Club
How it works
ANA runs a season-based, round-trip-only award chart that produces some of the lowest premium-cabin prices in Star Alliance — a true round-the-world business award sits near 115k miles. The catch is round-trip-only booking, meaningful fuel surcharges, and a transfer-in delay from Amex. Best for planned, symmetric trips where the low mileage outweighs the friction.
- Awards must be round trip — no one-ways — so plan the return up front.
- The RTW and Japan–US round-trip charts are the headline value; mind the seasons.
- Amex → ANA transfers take ~2 days; ANA miles expire in 3 years hard-stop.
- Fuel surcharges are high on ANA and Lufthansa metal — factor the cash taxes in.
Sweet spots
3ANA Round-the-World business class
ANA's distance-based round-the-world award lets you circle the globe in Star Alliance business for as little as ~115k miles (up to 22,000 flown miles). Few programs offer a true RTW in J at this price; surcharges and a hard date-flexibility requirement are the catch.
ANA round-trip USA in business
ANA prices Japan–US business as a round trip from ~75–90k miles depending on low/regular/high season — roughly half what most programs charge one-way. The award must be round trip, which is the main constraint.
ANA First Class round trip
ANA's own First Class round trip to Europe (~165k) or the US is one of the cheapest ways into ANA 'The Suite' and Lufthansa First. Round-trip-only pricing and fuel surcharges apply, but the per-direction cost is unmatched.
